Digging through some older photos and ran across the ad for my Crown Vic before I bought it:
It’s a 2004 civilian model with the full digital dash, leather, etc. Supposedly driven by a grandma prior to me picking it up. Somewhere along the line it picked up window tint and a honeycomb grill. I drove it like that for about six months before I found the right wheels on Craigslist. Now it looks like this:
Improvement, eh? I love the way these cars look with Mustang wheels on them. It’s been a solid daily driver/long hauler for me for the past two years and 30,000 miles.
Why did I buy a Crown Vic? Price was a huge factor. These cars are cheap. Secondly, I’m 6'4" so I like to have a full size car. I also liked the idea of a V8, rear drive car. Not to mention that this one has been quite reliable and stupid easy to fix when something does go wrong.

Not to mention an abundance of cheap, cheap parts.

Wheels do make a huge difference. I’m looking forward to swapping the wheels on my car.

But the gas mileage is pretty bad no?

My 2003 P71 got 20mpg if I drove like grandpa, and 20mpg if I drove like an asshole. I tended to lean toward the asshole side.

This was bought not too far from me, neat. Not a lot of Oppo activity here in South Dakota, it’s fun to see my area pop up every once in a while. You don’t happen to be from this area do you?

I’m from up by Aberdeen. I was living in Marshall at the time and was in Sioux Falls visiting a friend when I found this. I’m now in the Twin Cities.

18 city, 23 highway. Consistently. I looked at other cars that had better mileage, but they were all much more expensive than the $5,000 I paid for this one.

Got ya, grew up in Garretson myself, now living in Baltic (both just outside of Sioux Falls).
